Being the moderator I was observing the conference "from within" and, therefore, I can slightly reveal some "secrets". First of all, the selection of speakers and contents of reports pleased me very much – each participant picked up not only a lot of useful information, but the main thing is that the participants had a chance to get information about market development tendencies for the nearest 5 years at first hand, and, to my mind, it is the most valuable thing. Speaking about the "secrets" – they lie in an efficient and coordinated work of all team and constant attention to the details on the part of Liliya and Valentin – that was the pledge of success of «Direct Marketing Days in Ukraine». Thanks a lot to the organizers for such opportunity to be inside of such smoothly running mechanism. |

I do not expect particularly vivid impressions from «DM Days». This is an annual meeting of professionals with a very busy program. Your event has become an annual event in the schedule of many business people and in my schedule too. Besides professional talks with businessmen, the heads of East European direct marketing associations managed to meet and communicate. We had an unofficial meeting and agreed on patterns of communication and cooperation. Let’s hope that this time in Kiev there was created the collegial body of the presidents of East European direct marketing associations. dmdays.com.ua: What would you like to see at the business-forum next year? Perhaps, you have some wishes for its program? The program was arranged surprisingly well. The only thing is that sometimes it is not possible to take part in the events which are held simultaneously and such situation upsets. If you manage to sort out this problem, it will be great.

Information. And, perhaps, future partnership contracts. :) Business is above all. This Business-forum is a place where people meet and share information. It was very pleasant for me to meet with participants and to establish new partnership and business relations and just simply communicate with people. To meet partners in real life is very important and interesting, because you don’t see them and contact them only by the phone or via email. |

Due to it all 60 speakers addressed their target audience and the participants listened to and debated with the speakers, most useful for them. The Kiev Forum gave me excellent opportunities to get acquainted not only with the leading Ukrainian and foreign specialists, but with the neighbors of the Moscow market. I will surely come to DM Days in Ukraine in 2009. |

I have been taking part in «DM Days» since this event was set up. I can say that I am astonished by the work of all Organizing Committee and, in particular, Liliya Gorelaya and Valentin Kalashnik, because I see the results of their work. Every year the forum is becoming more interesting and more large-scaled. The participants’ line-up is becoming more professional and more «active working». If during the first years the audience was variegated, then nowadays «DM Days» have become the place of meeting of professionals. I always obtain a lot of new things and trends in the market, I communicate with people in this sphere, therefore for me this forum is always a stimulus for new achievements.
dmdays.com.ua: What did you remember most of all and what struck you most? What did I remember? I like profile meetings. They’re communication with “Ukrpochta” and sound live talks on urgent issues. It’s great that every year there are more and more catalog traders at the Forum. This year and last year I found a lot of new contacts at the conferences. For example, we had been successfully working for a year with representatives of the companies from YR Paris and Dr Pierre Ricaud, and we got acquainted with them here at «DM Days». It’s a good business forum. |

dmdays.com.ua: What was the most important and interesting for you at «DM Days»?
it was listening to all cases of the contest “Direct Hit”. I can’t say that the speakers who took the floor in the other halls struck me with something special but some part of live cases really made me think about them. I suppose that I will use some moments I heard at the contest in my work. The discussion with “Ukrpochta” was very interesting and the final discussion with legal experts on the last day of the Forum was interesting too. I really liked it very much. I always draw a parallel between our and Russian conferences and I can say that the range of participants in Ukraine is much more interesting. I got acquainted almost with all players which were interesting to me and it was really fruitful. But to tell the truth, I would like to see higher level of people who represent projects in the contest “Direct Hit”. I’d like to see not managerial staff, but at least heads of departments. It is not the person who represents the company-participant of the Forum. The main thing is in the ability of a person to speak about the company’s activities. But when we’re speaking about representing the projects’ results it’s extremely necessary for them to be represented by a person, at least, of the second managerial level. |

Each year the creativeness of DM, BTL and PR-agencies is becoming more vivid, unusual and hits the mark. The year of 2008 is not an exception – excellent works were represented by “Talan” and “OS-Direct”. As usual we were pleased by Russian colleagues from Krasnoyarsk. I do not still understand why this small (but very talented!!!) team from Krasnoyarsk has not opened its representative office in Ukraine yet. We (Alpha-Bank) would become its first client, though I am sure that there is already a queue to the holder of the Grand Prix. The project represented by these guys is a burning mixture of creativeness and media insight – how to promote services of the transportation company for potential clients only for 500 Euro. This is an excellent example of the fact that it is not always necessary to use standard media and spend huge budgets if you have a breakthrough idea. My respect and my congratulations to the holder of the Grand Prix. Next year we’re waiting for new "wonders". |

«DM Days» is deservedly considered the most significant event of this sphere in Ukraine. If several years ago the section of direct marketing was the most interesting, then this year there was the hyperactivity in the section «Call Center &CRM» and in the section «Mail Order». Reports of Ukrainian and foreign experts make it possible to come to conclusions about the trends of this branch development in different countries of the world. We’d like to see more vivid memorable works in the contest «Direct Hit». Usually they are not taken out to the public presentation because of limitations in contractual relations with the Client. I would like to point out the growth of activity of both Ukrainian and foreign companies in the section «Mai Order». This market is also dynamically developing for “Beeper Contact Center”, in particular, this direction is very interesting. In fact foreign companies which are planning to enter the Ukrainian market carry out primary screening of future suppliers of services within this conference. And surely communication with colleagues, discussion of common problems and new directions of work give the great emotional splash. Each conference can be compared with the visit to some tasting room of intellectual products after which there can be a feeling of enrichment and having something new or disappointment because the expectations have not been met. I hope that all participants of “DM Days” obtained something important for them: new contacts, new knowledge, new ideas which someway would surely contribute in the development of their company. |

Nazar Grynyk, LEAD9 Marketing (Ukraine), Holder of «Black Belt» of Direct Hit 2008 in the category «DM with use of interactive channels» I was expecting to show the experience of mobile marketing from Ukraine, Poland and Russia. We managed to do it – we held a seminar «The consumer is on line! Experience of communication with the consumer by mobile phone. Cases from Ukraine, Poland and Russia» with the participation of our colleagues from Warsaw and St. Petersburg. For me the peculiarity of this contest lies in its specialization – this is the most professional competition in direct marketing – and we are dealing with direct marketing. So it was a great honor for us to get an award from “Direct Hit”. |

dmdays.com.ua: Tell us, please, about your impressions. What did you remember most of all?
Sure, it was our pharmaceutical section! It attracted attention of not only operators of the pharmaceutical market, but leading FMCG companies which received a unique opportunity to be acquainted with the specificity of the pharmaceutical market, to understand how DM works in the pharmaceutical market, to discuss the issues concerning projects’ efficiency and to see live cases. I was pleased by the fact that the leading pharmaceutical companies were easily and openly sharing information about their projects. Yet again I was convinced in the fact that direct marketing was not sufficiently used in the pharmaceutical market. The case of one of the companies-leaders of the pharmaceutical market also aroused great interest: the defined efficiency of the mailing campaign, its contribution in the success of product development, they showed the influence of mailings on the brand awareness by the target audience, retention of promotional messages and growth of medical recommendations. I am sure such analysis of a mailing campaign will help operators of the pharmaceutical market to actively and confidently use direct marketing as an effective promotional channel. We were pleased by the fact that the conference participants showed clear understanding of the importance of availability of the valid database, the absence of which makes direct marketing void. The fact that efficiency and effectiveness of mailings depend on the quality of database by 40% made a great deal of participants seriously think about it and to concentrate their attention on the syndicate database “Pharbase” provided by “MDM” company, this database is the only in Ukraine now. I liked the ease in communications, openness and readiness of all participants to plan joint projects! |
